My Story
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, but Florida is the place I consider home. I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. As a self-taught artist, my work has developed through years of curiosity, experimentation, and a desire to express the ideas and emotions that shape how I see the world.
Outside of my studio, I am a teacher and a mom, and a woman who has faced her share of adversity in the world. These experiences deeply influence my perspective and the themes that appear in my work. My background studying sociology and literature in college also plays a role in how I approach art, often inspiring me to explore social awareness, feminism, and the human relationship with nature.
I primarily work with watercolor, pen, colored pencil, and collage. I’m drawn to symbolism and simple imagery that carries deeper meaning beneath the surface. Many of my pieces begin with personal experiences or observations about social issues, and evolve into visual reflections meant to spark thought and connection.
Like many artists, I tend to be my biggest critic. Over time, I’ve learned to embrace imperfection and allow it to become part of the work itself. Those small flaws and unexpected moments often bring the most honesty into a piece.
I believe art has the power to bring people together—creating shared moments of reflection, curiosity, and understanding. My hope is that my work invites viewers to pause, look a little closer, and find meaning that resonates with their own experiences.
